| ESB Financial issues debit cards that can be used to obtain cash from your
account at an ATM as well as to make a purchase from any merchant
who accepts VISA debit cards. When making a purchase, the merchant will use your
debit card to process your purchase electronically. You will be asked
to provide a Personal Identification Number (PIN) at the time of purchase.
Generally, your checking account will be charged in one or two business
days after your purchase. The transaction will be listed on your account
statement with other electronic transactions showing the name of the
merchant, the description "ELECTRONIC FUNDS PURCHASE", and
the purchase amount. If you need to return your purchase, you should
contact the merchant regarding their check refund policy.
There are maximum dollar amounts that you are limited to in the
use or your ESB debit card/ATM card for total purchases and ATM
cash. You will find these limits in the disclosure section of ESB
Online. These limitations protect against fraud if your card is
lost or stolen. See our FAQs for more information.
A debit card is different from a credit card in that it is subtracted
from your checking account in one or two business days after your
purchase. Your credit card is charged to a separate credit account
with a separate statement mailed to you and the option of making
monthly payments on the balance.
